Raredial is a browser extension that compares the watch listing you're viewing with other listings of the same watch and estimates what it would cost delivered to you. It's made by Willfinity Solutions Inc., doing business as RareDial (“we”, “us”), a company incorporated in Canada.
In short: Raredial has no accounts, doesn't track you, doesn't sell or share your information, and doesn't keep the listings you look at.
What Raredial reads
Raredial only runs on watch listing pages on eBay, Chrono24, and the Reddit communities r/Watchexchange and r/WatchExchangeCanada. On those pages it reads the listing in front of you:
- the title, asking price, currency, condition, reference number and the seller's description;
- where the item ships from;
- the delivery postal code the page shows, if any (for example on eBay), which Raredial turns into a country and province or state on your device;
- on Reddit, the post and the seller's own comments describing the watch, which can include the seller's Reddit username.
It doesn't read other pages, other tabs, your browsing history, form fields, passwords or payment details.
What Raredial sends to our server
To make the comparison, the extension sends our server (api.raredial.app):
- the listing details above;
- the watch reference number;
- your approximate location for taxes and shipping: your saved “Deliver to” setting if you chose one, otherwise the country and province or state from the listing page, and your device's time zone.
Our hosting provider also tells our server the country and region of your internet connection (derived from your IP address). We use it only to pick the right taxes and shipping estimate for that request.
What we keep, and for how long
- The listing you view: not stored. It's used to work out the comparison and then discarded.
- Your location: not stored. It's used for that one comparison.
- Your IP address: not stored by us. For rate limiting (stopping any one connection from overloading the service), we keep a one-way salted hash of your IP address with a count of requests for the current hour. It can't be turned back into your address, and we delete it after about two hours.
- Watch reference numbers that people look up, with a count and the time of the last lookup. They aren't linked to you, and we use them to keep popular watches' prices up to date.
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard technical request logs, which include IP addresses, for a short period, for security and troubleshooting.
- Error reports. When something in Raredial breaks, the extension or our server sends a report to our error tracking provider: the kind of error, where in Raredial's code it happened, and the version. Reports don't include your IP address, the page you were on, the listing, your settings or anything else about you.
Information stored in your browser
Your Raredial settings stay in your browser's extension storage. If you're signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome syncs them across your devices through your Google account. They are:
- display currency;
- your “Deliver to” country and province or state;
- whether the panel opens as a small badge or in full;
- your sort choice for other listings;
- whether the delivered-cost breakdown is open.
You can change them in the extension's settings, or remove them by uninstalling Raredial.
Marketplace data
To compare prices, our server collects listings that are publicly available on eBay through eBay's official API: titles, prices, condition, item location, and the seller's public username and feedback score. We store these to show comparisons and keep them up to date.
When eBay notifies us that a user has closed their eBay account, we remove that user's username and feedback from everything we've stored. This is part of eBay's Marketplace Account Deletion programme. Our use of eBay data is also subject to eBay's own User Privacy Notice.
What we don't do
- No accounts, sign-ups or passwords.
- No advertising, ad tracking, analytics or cookies.
- We don't sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own use.
- We don't use your information for creditworthiness, lending, or any purpose other than showing you the comparison.
Service providers
We use a few providers to run Raredial. They process data only on our behalf:
- Vercel (hosting), United States;
- Neon (database), United States;
- Sentry (error reports, as described above), United States;
- eBay (listing data, through its API; we send eBay search terms such as reference numbers, not your personal information);
- Bank of Canada and the European Central Bank (exchange rates; nothing about you is sent).
Because our servers are in the United States, information you send to Raredial is processed there.
Your choices and rights
You can:
- set your “Deliver to” location yourself instead of letting Raredial work it out;
- uninstall the extension at any time, which removes your settings from your browser;
- contact us with any question, or to ask for access to or deletion of information about you.
Because we don't keep information linked to you, there's usually nothing to retrieve or delete, but we'll always check and reply. Depending on where you live, you may have rights under privacy laws such as Canada's PIPEDA, the EU and UK GDPR, or California's CCPA. We'll honour them.
Children
Raredial isn't directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 16.
Changes to this policy
If we change how Raredial uses information, we'll update this page and the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll also say so in the extension's update notes.
